Our Mission

Building Food-Secure Communities from the Ground Up

YouthGrow Farms is creating a food-secure future through school-based, youth-led hydroponic farming. We bring fresh, sustainably-grown produce directly into the neighborhoods that need it most — food desert communities where access to nutritious fruits and vegetables has been limited for generations.

We're not just growing food. We're cultivating health equity, educational opportunity, and economic empowerment for all New Yorkers and communities nationwide.

We believe access to healthy food is a fundamental human right — not a privilege. Our vision is a world where food desert communities have the capacity to grow and distribute their own fresh, nutritious, culturally appropriate, and affordable produce. We are catalyzing a movement where young people in underserved communities become producers of their own food, informed consumers, and architects of solutions to the challenges that shape their lives.

From Classroom to Community Table

School-Based Growing Labs

We install advanced hydroponic and aeroponic vertical farming systems directly inside schools and community centers. These compact, indoor gardens use up to 90% less water than traditional agriculture and grow produce year-round — regardless of weather, season, or available land.

Youth-Led Cultivation

Students take ownership of every stage — from seeding and nutrient management to harvesting and distribution. Along the way, they gain real-world experience in STEM disciplines, sustainable agriculture, business operations, and community leadership that opens doors to future careers.

Community Distribution

Harvested produce goes directly to families in food desert neighborhoods through our food pantry network, local partnerships, and community distribution events. Every head of lettuce, every bunch of herbs, every tomato is grown locally by young people for their own community.

YouthGrow Farms is a socially conscious nonprofit organization operating at the intersection of food justice, youth development, and sustainable agriculture. We are a certified hydroponic and aeroponic organic food producer, a youth education organization, and a licensed food pantry serving families who meet established eligibility requirements.
